Golden Train II for the FLOW exhibition , October 2007, in Brussels

I have revisited Golden Train and taken large, highly detailed photographs of model people travelling on the train. The passengers in the images replace the video elements of the previous installation. These photographs powerfully evoke ideas of travel, migration and the sharing of cultural wealth and potential.

On occasion I've been asked if Golden Train could work anywhere other than the place it was designed for. The answer is 'yes', I think it is sometimes possible to relocate some of the elements of a site-specific piece. Here the train is still the aspect that draws the spectator to the work but this time the people are on the train. I feel the Golden Train could travel to new destinations, cross cultural borders and be loaded for new environments
