MARK DIXON a short CV, Selected Exhibitions and Project Highlights: 

1975-1978 Worked full-time in archaeology, on sites in Hull, Yorks, Lincs, Essex and Suffolk.
1979-1996 Set up and ran a Screenprinting Company, Squeegee Printers, in Stowmarket, Suffolk. 
1982-1983 Taught screen printing and graphic design on the degree course at the Colchester Institute 
1990-1992 Ipswich Art College: BTech in General Art & Design.
1992-1995 Norwich Art School: Fine Art, Sculpture, BA Hons degree Dissertation “Figures in the Landscape” exploring ancient British land art.

2015 Sidestrand Castle a work in progress on the North Norfolk coastline.

2013 / 2015 Fermynwoods Contemporary Arts. Working with educationally excluded children.

Massaging materials 2014 / 2015 Working with a blind massage therapist to explore new ways to make new forms of art for visually impaired people

2013 Make Believe at Nottingham Castle Museum. Imagined archeological artifacts found in the grounds of Nottingham Castle with excavation remains.   Fermynwoods Contemporary Arts – Residency. Working with excluded children.

2010-2012 Land art research funded by ArtsCouncilEngland. RSPB Fendrayton landscape drawing.  Sabbatical journey – a 2000 mile trip around the inland waterways of England and Wales.

Commission for Cambridge Guided busway. Bird landscape water drawing and earthwork ArtsCouncilEast personal research and land art project. Commission for WirelessReactor-IV Breeze Health Centre in Liverpool. ‘Breaking up’ Video installation edit for the waterfront Ipswich.

Group exhibition at Focal Point Gallery, Southend.
Ran a series of digital workshops for people with learning difficulties, with Suffolk Artlink funded by Mid Suffolk District Council and Havebury Housing Trust.
“Making the Invisible Visible” – Exhibition, using high voltage discharge and working directly onto the walls of the Room Upstairs, Wolsey Gallery, Ipswich.
Animated film – “Re:Thinking:Time” exhibition at the Peterborough Digital Arts 
“Suspended”. Residency and commission at St. Mary at the Quay, Ipswich. Over a 10 day period sculpture installation and wifi video were combined to make an interactive projection environment that changed from day to day.

Period of experimentation working with Southampton University.
Site Specific video work, representing Ipswich Bough Council’s Arts Policy.
Wireless video projections. Including an exhibition at St Mary at the Quay Ipswich.

Visiting Artist & international lecture program at Kansas State University, with a show at the Beach Galley, Kansas, USA.
Invited to participate in Artworks, an 18 month artists’ mentoring scheme.
Exhibition of work in progress, at Forefront Gallery, Suffolk College, Ipswich.
Organised US/UK artist exchange project for Stowmarket Artists Studios.

”Paper art” project incorporating an international residency supported by grants from ‘Awards for all’, Kansas State University and Norwich School of Art.
Working with microscopic imagery using high voltage.
’Awards for Artists’, Cash award from East England Arts – new work using high voltage.
Granted an £18,000 award from Regional Arts Lottery Program to provide Stowmarket Artists Studios with a new digital technology facility. 
Created network scheme for 20 Suffolk artists to gain access to digital art studios.

”Seahenge” Solo exhibition at the Sainsburys Centre, Norwich. 
Experimenting with Electro-chemistry as a new form of expression.

Awarded a 3 month artists bursary at the Focal Point Digital Workshops, Southend.

Moscow International snow sculpture festival. Award for most imaginative work.

. Produced and directed a short TV Film, “Ghost Train” funded by First Take (Anglia TV and Eastern Arts) Broadcast November 1994 and shown at Cambridge film festival.
