ghost train

Ghost Train, Land Art Project, Old Newton, Suffolk.

In response to the parch mark scar left by a Suffolk railway line made redundant and removed in the 1950’s after Beaching’s report.

White paper ribbon was used to mark out an image of the train before sowing the field with yellow rape and blue linseed. The image appeared and vanished on the original track each day as the linseed flowers opened and closed. An ephemeral work which commented on the fleeting nature of the originally planned permanence of a railway Quite often my work is site specific and I draw on my surroundings.

I produced and directed a short film about the making of Ghost Train for the First Take series, designed for first time film makers, commissioned by Anglia TV.
